Solo Exhibition April - May 2017

'Of birds and beasts'

Ronan Halpin is a sculptor living and working on Achill Island, Co Mayo off the west coast of Ireland. All the work is individually hand made at his studio on the Island. During the summer months he opens the studio to the public as a gallery space.

Ronan has worked as a sculptor for almost 30 years. He is a graduate from NCAD, Dublin and Yale School of Art in the US where he achieved a Masters in Fine Art 1984.

The Work

Ronan works mainly with steel, brass and bronze. Welders and grinders are the tools of his art. Metal is flame cut with Oxy-Acetylene and the Mig welder is used for the more intricate work.

Inspiration comes in many guises. Whether its walking on the storm lashed shores of Achill Island or treking in the surrounding mountains the spark of an idea can ignite.
