Irish Sculpture “Against the tide| is made in brass, bronze and solder. It is approximately 34cm high. Between Achill Island and the mainland sits the tiny island of Inishbiggle. The water races in the narrow gap between to two islands. These treacherous waters are regularly crossed by local islanders, sometimes at great risk to life and limb.The title refers to the struggle, either internal or external, to make progress.
